Should I Straighten My Teeth?

Believe it or not, straighter teeth impact more than just your confidence. When your teeth are aligned, it’s much easier to brush and floss. When you can keep your teeth clean, you reduce your chances of developing problems like gum disease, tooth decay, and cavities.

When your bite functions correctly, you can avoid painful problems with your jaw joint. Temporomandibular disorder, or TMD, is a painful joint disorder that can occur when your bite is not aligned.

TMD can cause symptoms like frequent headaches, joint clicking and popping, tenderness or pain when biting or chewing, neck and shoulder pain, and locking of your jaw either open or closed.

Lastly, we can’t fail to mention the benefits of a beautiful smile on your self-esteem. When you can smile with confidence and ease, it positively impacts how you interact with other people.

Traditional Braces

At Bright Dental, we offer both metal and clear traditional braces. Brackets and wires can be ideal for children and adults with complex bite concerns. This is a reliable and time-tested way to straighten your teeth and correct your bite.

Invisible Braces

Clear aligner systems like Invisalign and ClearCorrect can be excellent solutions for adults or teens who want to straighten their teeth with discretion and without the challenges of wearing traditional braces.

With invisible braces, you’ll wear your clear aligners for at least 22 hours each day and change them every two weeks to achieve the best results. Aligners are smooth and comfortable to wear, and since they’re clear, they’re virtually invisible.

Patients also appreciate no dietary restriction with invisible braces since you can take your aligners out for meals. Brushing and flossing remain the same, too, so keeping your smile clean and bright is easy during treatment with Invisalign.

Invisible braces aren’t for everyone, so the first step is an evaluation with one of our dentists to determine which type of treatment is best for you.

Would You Like More Information About Orthodontic Treatment?

Our dentists begin evaluating children for early orthodontics around age seven. Many children living with overbites, underbites, or open bites can benefit from early intervention with orthodontics. Early treatment may make the second phase of treatment more straightforward later on.
